Bodinayakanur Bodinayakanur is located at a distance 90kms from Madurai and Munnar 70 Kms (Kerala state) 49 Extension National Highway in the State of Tamil Nadu.


Bodinayakanur Municipality is one of the First Grade municipalities in Theni District. The comprises residential, commercial, institutional and industrial areas. Location of the town

This town is situated at the foot-hill of Western ghats in Theni district. is popularly known to be a Cardamom city. It is on the Madurai to Cochin National Highways. It is accessible by the road and rail from Chennai and Madurai. The location of the Municipality is at latitude 10° 01’ North and longitude 77° 24” East. The Municipal jurisdiction extends over an area of 7.23 sq.km.

The key function of the Municipality is to provide basic amenities to the public. Municipality is a part of Urban Local Body which renders an essential services to the people of the town such as Water supply, Sanitation works, Street lighting, Road works. It also renders many more services like registering and certifying births and deaths in the town, Public health services like immunating the public from diseases, Conducting awareness programmes on AIDS, and other type of man killing diseases. There are two water supply schemes that are functioning well in the Municipality. These two schemes are executed at an estimated cost of Rs. 136.05 Lacs. In addition to this scheme, a new scheme with an estimated cost of Rs. 232.48 Lacs is proposed to Government for approval and the water scarcity problem in extension area will be fulfilled on implementing this new scheme in future.
