Location of the town
Paramakudi Town, the head quarters of the Paramakudi Taluk of Ramanathapuram District, is situated on either banks of river Vaigai and at about 75 km east from Madurai and 35 km west from Ramanathapuram on the Madurai-Rameswaram National Highway (N.H.No. 49 ) The town lies at the intersection of 78° 35’ 45” E. longitude 9° 32’ 30 “ N latitude.
The barriers for the development of the town are the river vaigai, the three kanmois (Emaneswaram Kanmoi, Vendoni Kanmoi and Kattuparamakudi Kanmoi ) with their ayacut wet lands and Manamadurai – Rameswarm metregauge railway line
Spread over an area 13.00 sq.kms Paramakudi is the second largest town in the district of Ramanthapuram with a population of over 84321 , the important economic function of the town is household handloom weaving industry

The town lies on the Madurai , Dhanashgodi National Highway-49 and a Major District road with Ramanathapuram , Rameshwaram, Sivagangai, Madurai, etc,..
The town railway station is lying between Madurai to Rameshwaram meter gauge line. Manamadurai Railway Junctuion is within 24 k.m. from here.
Temperature and Rain Fall
The Climate is hot and dry. The rainfall is less than the state average and occurs during the months of October and December.
