Periyakulam is nearest town of Theni Town. The distance from Periyakulam to Theni is 20 Km. The Municipality is situated near old Government Hospital.

The main function of the Municipality is to provide the basic amenities to the public such as Water Supply, Street Light maintenance, Sanitation work & Road Maintenance. A new water supply scheme is sanctioned by the Government and the work is now being executed by the TWAD Board. The scheme is sanctioned to fulfil the future need of the town.
